Walvis Bay - Namibia

Walvis Bay, NamibiaWalvis Bay, is a port in Namibia and the bay on which it lies. The bay has been a haven for sea vessels because of its natural deepwater harbour, protected by the Pelican Point sand spit. Being rich in plankton and marine life, these waters drew large numbers of whales attracting whalers and fishing vessels.

Both places are towns in Namibia and are on the Atlantic coast.I am interested in knowing how long one may take if they travel by road between the two places.

"34 km"

"That's right..about 34 km. It is quite a scenic drive (if you like desert landscapes) especially around sunset. Driving from Swakopmund south to Walvis Bay, you will have the ocean on your righthand side and desert/sand dunes to your left. About halfway in between there is a restraunt in some railway cars with a perfect view of the ocean. Also, there are many places to turn off the main road and get out and walk on the beach. One thing about this road, there is a lot of traffic and so you should drive very carefully. There has been many fatalities, but as long as you drive the speed limit, and don't overtake other vehicles, you will be fine. I can't remember exactly, but I think the speed limit id 100kph, so it will take you about 20minutes to drive between the two towns. Not far from Walvis Bay is Dune 7, one of the tallest sand dunes in the world - a must see for any one visiting the are. Have fun and drive safe."
