Terry F :

I visited Vladivostok in Eastern Russia just recently. I noticed there were a high percentage of hotties. I would just like to know what is their secret?

DutchGirlinOregon :
"Slavic girls you know, they're just hot, and built tiny because of food shortages or something, I don't know."
Kelbomeister :
"I thought most women in Russia are smokin' hot. Although, I noticed that Russian women (or white women for that matter) don't seem to age well, even in their mid-20s'."
sweet-cookie :
"Cold Russian winters ! and plenty of practise ! ;)"
The Big Red Fish! :

How is it possible for Vladivostok in Russia to have the SAME time zone as Melbourne in Australia. Here's Vladivostok's details: Here's Melbourne's details:>

robert KS LEE. :
"they r on the same longitude zone."
McKinley :
"Time zones are delineated based on lines of latitude. Because the earth rotates east to west, areas that have roughly the same "easting" will be in the same time zone (minus the differences caused by political movement of the time line boundaries). 75 degrees east, no matter the latitude rotate at the same speed and thus pass the same point in the earth revolution at the same time.. Hope that helps"
bestonnet_00 :
"It's because Vladivostok is very close in longitude to Melbourne. Remember than Russia is a very big country and that Vladivostok is a Pacific port city."
oz_engineer :
"It is a mixture of how the sun falls on the planet earth as it roatates and politics. Your statement is not entirly true (due to politics). Here is two sample times ( taken at exact same time ). Current local time in Vladivostok, Russia Thursday, 22 Nov 2007 05:39 PM Standard Time Zone: GMT/UTC + 10:00 hour Daylight Saving Time: DST not in use Current local time in Melbourne, Australia Thursday, 22 Nov 2007 06:39 PM Standard Time Zone: GMT/UTC + 10:00 hour Daylight Saving Time: DST in use +1 hour Current Time Zone offset: GMT/UTC + 11:00"
timmmahhhh@sbcglobal.net :
"Jimmy Buffett may have sung about "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes", but as long as the longitude remains roughly the same so will the time zone."
Kris :

I have been to Russia a couple times with different groups, but never on my own. Does anyone know the "off season" when I can get plane tickets really cheap??? Obviously I don't want to go in the middle of winter... mainly because it would be harder to see things, not because of the cold. I really want to visit Vladivostok...

Jaska :
"If you are looking for cheap flights I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss winter. With a little planning ahead it's not much more difficult to get around and the places booming with tourists in the peak season can be seen leisurely and more intimately. If dead set on not going in winter, fall is your next best bet. You can check trends depending on where in the US you will be leaving from on Kayak.com."
hollopeterpepper :
"i have found that tickets to russia were best purchased about 6-8 weeks prior to departure for the best price. if you dont mind switching planes you can also save money than purchasing a direct flight.. of course arrival and departure dates also can save you money. i understand by next year there will be more options for overseas flights and the rates should drop considerably..... so if you can wait until next year, that would be the optimal time to go!"
koreikohouse :
"I think there is always the "off season" if you want to travel to Vladivostok. Buying tickets in advance is a good idea though. Personally, I don't understand what you want to see in Vladivostok. Nothing special about this city, I think. Traffic and bad roads. Just stay at home/hotel after the sun goes down, really! Crime never sleeps. If you want to see the real nature go to Kamchatka (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) You will love it. Here is a link:"
