What's the best way to get to Toulon from Marseille airport? I know they have a shuttle for passangers flying certain airlines, But i'm not on those airlines....Is there a diffeerent shuttle or what? Thanks:)

Guillaume :
"Hi, There is a free shuttle from Marseille airport to Marseille train station. From there, you can take the train to Toulon. I'm sure there is a TGV (high speed train) between the two cities; but you need to make a reservation for this kind of train especially in summer. I guess there are also normal trains which do not require a reservation; there are also cheaper, but are much slower too."

I am working on a research project comparing the bus system in my home town of Columbia, SC to the similar-sized city of Toulon in France. The American Public Transportation Association publishes detailed figures for the amount of government funding that America's transit systems receive, but I have been unable to find similar figures for French systems. Can anybody point me in the direction of a reliable source for such figures, preferably in English, though I can use Babelfish to translate if it is in French?

walyank :
"French public transportation is funded according to a very simple formula. Cost of Operation - Intake (ticket sales, ad sales, and whatever else they sell) = Funding amount. Europeans in general find it a good investment to fund their public transportation to whatever level needed to keep it going and serve as many places as possible. Having lived in France for a while I know that very few places cannot be reached by some form of public transportation. To get more details will be a little complicated without speaking french because you would need to check web sites of all the different parties involved. National, regional, departemental and local governments are all involved to some degree in the funding as well as some private and semi-private companies."
Redcandy :
"I found this site, and hopefully it will has contact information, so maybe you can call in and ask the French Bus Transportation company how much funding Toulous gets?:"

"I am a Belgian citizen and I have lived a long time near Toulon and I am afraid walyank is right. Knowing what is the part of the state contribution means knowing which part is going under the table to corrupt political parties and politicians." :

flying from london

"Yes??? What about it?"
Pompal :
"Ryanair from Stanstead appears to be full booked. Alternatives would seem to be Gatwick/Marseilles(Provence), at 14.00hrs, with Easyjet, priced at £140.99 + 12euros bus transfer to Toulon. Easyjet also have flights to Nice at 05.55hrs, from Gatwick, price £96.99 and for the same price Stanstead at 0650hrs. If you go to Nice airport site and click on access, followed by busses and shuttles you will find a bus service with prices that suits you. Hope you manage to find something suitable."

Bouillabaisse is a traditional Provençal fish stew. The original bouillabaisse was from the Calanque coast between Marseilles and Toulon. Although called a soup, this is really a main dish, a full meal in itself.

The Bush Administration has long reminded me of a band of misfits that matched each one of their characteristics perfectly. Remember "Puppet Master," the series of B-movie horror films in the late 1980s? President Bush himself is like puppet master Andre Toulon in his madness.
