1. Choose the best answer for the question from the responses provided. Edna St. Vincent Millay’s poem “Love is not all” is characterized as a sonnet because of its length and rhyme scheme. Millay only wrote sonnets. it is about love. it was inspired by Shakespeare. 2. Choose the correct answer from among the four provided for the question. Read this excerpt from “Love is not all” by Edna St. Vincent Millay:Love is not all: it is not meat nor drinkNor slumber nor a roof against the rain;Nor yet a floating spar to men that sinkAnd rise and sink and rise and sink again;Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath,Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone; The imagery in this excerpt relates to funny or silly mishaps that occur. the joys of a life filled with love. survival during difficult times. the speaker’s own experiences. 3. Choose the correct answer from among the four provided for the question. Which of the following best summarizes the theme of “Love is not all” by Edna St. Vincent Millay? (Points: 3) Love is not as important as food or shelter. Love is a fantasy believed in by fools. Love is too often misunderstood by people. Love is incredibly valuable to the speaker.

"1. Edna St. Vincent Millay’s poem “Love is not all” is characterized as a sonnet because of its length and rhyme scheme. (Not all sonnets are about love, and not all sonnets are inspired by Shakespeare (alternately, not all poems inspired by Shakespeare are sonnets). And Millay did not write only sonnets, she wrote in many different forms.) 2. The imagery relates to survival during difficult times (starvation, natural disaster, shipwreck, illness, injury). 3. Love is incredibly valuable to the speaker. She spends thirteen and a half lines talking about things that are more immediate and necessary for survival than love, and yet she does not believe she would trade her memory of one night with her lover."

Right now, I'm watching CSPAN and they are showing a debate at St Vincent College over whether or not they should retract their invitation to have President Bush as their commencement speaker. There has been a big uproar on that campus over this invitation. In case you aren't familiar with St Vincent College, it is a Catholic university that is ranked among the top 10 most CONSERVATIVE campuses in America. More conservative than Brigham Young and Regent University. Thanks to all the conservatives who have replied so far for showing that they, too, are distancing themselves from the President.

"when even the catholics don't want you that's bad."
freakychinaman :
"What exactly is the question here?"
Scott B :
""Conservative" college is an oxymoron, and I'm pretty sure not all at the college are asking for the same thing."
heehee :
"Many Catholics still vote dem. Do you want an award."
Tim :
"Most Conservatives who are on the Libertarian side of things have always disliked Bush. A lot of them say Bush is about as far away from being a true Conservative as you can get. Which is true, government has exploded in size with him. Conservatives are generally small government."

"I personally think that The Three Stooges should run for the US Presidency. They couldn't do a worse job!! Wise guy eh? Nyuck Nyuck Nyuck"
Nikki :
"It's in a blue state. Durrrrrrrrrrr!"
jdm :
"Bush is barely conservative himself. But if it makes you feel any better, you're such a smart person for being a democrat. Democrats know better for the world than anyone else. If Jesus were alive today, he'd be a democrat too. Not only that, but they are generally super swell people...and brilliant. And incredible at the internet. How's that?"
theshadowknows :
"Only a deluded person could believe Bush was actually a conservative, conservatives expect the laws to be upheld, it is mentioned in teh oath of office after all. It comes down to not expecting any better or opposing political parties, but expecting the guy who wants your vote to live up to his promises. Someone invoking religion and praying all the while doesn't convince me of any thing, it's "deeds not words". I guess I don't see same sex marriage and abortion as the biggest problems our nation faces right now. I'm more concerned with social security, security against terrorism, (not 32 but 3200 or more lives in one act), food safety, gas price gouging, the cost of compliance with Kyoto, and if there will be anything BUT government jobs in this country's future? Or if I'll ever be able to afford a home in my own native land, state and county, on the jobs the elite allow to exist here? That's a problem throughout rural America or in rural parts of any developed nation, one that increasing tax burdens and a cheap labor face from other countries to compete with makes worse. I remember Reagan, how much fun everyone made of Reagan, and how good a rise in the economy and pride in the country we had, the USA was respected if hated, maybe even fear, now they neither like nor fear us around the world, just demand we give and give and give, while people in our own country go begging, and we now go 4 billion deeper in foreign debt by the day, that is what conservatives are p.o.'d about, when you are on the edge of bankrupt you stop with the charities and get your own house in order. Being a conservative means preserving the Constitution, not erasing teh borders and distinctions between us and foreign countries and enforcing the language of invaders upon the natives. Bush has a precedent, his name was Vortigen."

On their debut EP, Whip It On, and first full-length, The Chain Gang of Love, the duo turned 50s rock'n'roll into post-millennial sex music, caking on the distortion and bringing out the lewd and the lurid that we always knew lurked in the songs of Buddy Holly (whose perfect "Rave On" gave the band their name) and Gene Vincent. With 2005's Pretty i
