chicken :

my sister is living in france, near angouleme and her and her partner recently had an accident on their scooter, her partner has had to have a hip replacement, and my sister cant drive. She needs to get to poitiers hospital to visit him, she can get to poitiers train station but wants to know how to and how easy it is to get to the hospital from the station.

daisymay :
"This will depend on how far the hospital from the station. I would say Taxi. Im looking for a map of that area. If I find one, I'll post the link. Found a couple different hospitals in Poitier on yellow pages The main one seems to be: Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Poitiers (C.H.U) 2 r de la Milétrie 86021 POITIERS CEDEX BP 577 Tel: .05 49 44 44 44 She maybe best ringing the hospital to ask how far away from the station they are. I have found the map on here though Click Vous et la CHU Then Les Plans Then Acces General It shows the station is not all that far away.' Hope this is the right hospital Good luck"
radford_5k :

I want to see some friends in Poitiers, France. Does anyone know the cheapest any quickest way? Ideally, I'd want to go from Stansted airport, and fly to Poitiers airport but no airline appears to be doing that route till March.

jenkin1950 :
"I use Eurostar from Waterloo to Paris and then a TGV to Poitiers. I have friends there and so far it's the quickest way I've found. Next month Eurostar goes from St Pancras."
xXxMUSiCxXx :

Does anyone know what the natural or local products of Poitiers, France are? Such as, dairy products, wine, bread, meat, etc. I've been searching the web but I can't find anything! Also, does anyone know of a website that could give me this information?

cb0257 :
"There are some excellent goat cheese, cognac, wines, oysters, beans... please visit: It is from the Poitou-Charentes region tourism office, it is a non exhaustive list of the delicacies of the area. There is an English version. As for me I LOVE their Goat cheese and butter!"
Amandine :
"Hi, I'm French, I did some search for you ! I used the Babel fish traduction, because I'm not fluent in english ... so I'm sorry for the mistakes. The Poitevine gastronomy is made of consistent meals with sauce, cooked of long hours and oblige to eat bread... Basic ingredients of this gastronomy which we will describe as "plantureuse" are: butter (name AOC) the nut oil (for salads only), goat's milk cheeses (in particular famous Chabichou), melons, chestnuts and nuts, the cabbages (vegetables stars of the kitchen poitevine), haricot beans (called "mojettes"), the lamb and the kid, products of the river (fish of fresh water, crayfish, eels, frogs...) finally the snails, which one calls here of the lumas (small gray very different from snails of Burgundy), the wine of Poitou will be able to accompany your meals: light red wines and sharp white wines, in particular Gamay. The typical principal meal of the area is the stuffed "poitevin": stuffed cabbages with spinaches and "oseille". Before the dessert, Chabichou of Poitou is a very good goat's milk cheese. For the dessert, you will be able to choose between the oil cheese cake and crushed of Poitou (rather friable cake). I give you 2 links for discovering Poituers and the Poitou Charentes Region Bye - Amandine"

Robert Johnson, the founder of BET and Clinton-backer who compared Barack Obama to Sidney Poitier and sarcastically referred to what Obama was "doing in the neighborhood -- it's in his book" even though he meant Obama's community organizing (yeah. right.) appears not to have gotten the TRUCE memo supposedly distributed Monday to Clinton surrogates.

Robert L. Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television, who is campaigning today in South Carolina with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, just raised the specter of Barack Obama’s past drug use. He also compared Mr. Obama to Sidney Poitier, the black actor, in “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”
