Male Atoll - Maldives

Male Atoll or Kaafu Atoll is an administrative atoll from the Maldives. This administrative atoll consists of four natural atolls: Kaashidhoo Island, Gaafaru, the North Malé Atoll and the South Male Atoll. Male, capital of the Maldives is located at the southern end of the North Male atoll. The only international airport of the Maldives is located at Hulhule.Practically all uninhabited islands of this Atoll became tourist resorts during the two last decades of the 20th century.

Tony Hussain Hinde, the famous surf legend died last Tuesday afternoon in a freak accident whilst surfing at Pasta Point in Male' Atoll. Tony is credited with introducing surfing to the Maldives in 1973.
