Languedoc - France

Languedoc ( in French, Lengadòc in Occitan) is a former province of France, now continued in the modern-day régions of Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées in the south of France, and whose capital city was Toulouse, now in Midi-Pyrénées. It had an area of approximately 42,700 km² (16,490 sq. miles).Languedoc should not be confused with the linguistic and cultural area of Occitania, to which it belongs, but which is larger than Languedoc.// The question of the limits of LanguedocThe traditional provinces of the kingdom of France had no official existence. A province was a territory

up to 1943 the languedoc roussillon was a free zone until the germans invaded with the suspition of nthe alliies landing did not happen until summer 1944 coastal fortification was built the mediterranean coast of france major port nand sutch . i would like to find out more abouth the resistance under ground fighter activity

Erik Van Thienen :
"The resistance was mostly concentrated in the mountain range of the Cévennes, part of the Massif Central. The Cevennes are one of the legendary places in the history of the French Resistance, like the Plateau de Vercors in the East. Most information on the Cévennes on the Web is in French, or for tourists. Found one important book in English : "In Search of the Maquis : Rural Resistance in Southern France 1942-1944", H.R. Kedward, New York, Oxford, 1993"

We are going to the Languedoc Roussillon region of Southern France in August, with friends who are keen race goers. Can anyone tell me is there are any racecourses in the region? Can anyone tell me of a link to dates of meetings? - any other information would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Ann

Hi, does anyone know the best recruitment consultant/website/local paper/trade magazines to find a job in the languedoc region in the south of france. I would like to move my young family there and have a property/senior management background. I have spent days on the web and am getting no-where. I would be very grateful for any information.

"Try an advert in "The Lady" Magazine. It may be a long shot but they have an overseas jobs section. Check out their website. Good luck. What about estate agents in UK that have overseas property on their books, they would have contacts who might be of help."

Languedoc-Roussillon and the south east show the best regional property price increases, while French property market experiences slowest growth since 1998.

There's a lot of guff talked about French property prices, and about Provence property in particular. This site rocks because it regularly posts new info, backed up with crunchy, recent, verifiable facts and figures. This particular story illustrates the value of buy-to-let property and the superior yields you can get in Languedoc, versus Provence.
