jikzhao :

I'm planning to fly from Kota Kinabalu International Airport to Vancouver International Airport sometime in early July this year. Does anyone know any good flight-plans or any reasonable, cheap air-fares? I don't mind economy, or the number of stops at various airports. Please let me know ASAP

Chaos :
"If you want to fly direct from BKI, you can choose either Korean air, Asiana Airline. but i think both airline have expensive fare. You may need to depart from KUL, using China airlines, eva airlines , cathay pasific and china eastern airline. They offer cheaper fare compare to other airline. You may need to call up your local travel agent, sometime they have special offer. If you wanna transit in europe, consider taking KLM via amsterdam. Don't hesitate to call Air Canada office in KL to ask about their fare, maybe you have a suprise"
xxpansion :
"Right now airline companies are ripping off the consumers. There are "key phrases" to use when calling in to book flights that will get you great deals that aren't often published. Search yahoo or google and you'll see what I'm talking about. I've also referenced a guide that is updated monthly to contain the latest tips on getting the best deals. These tips have saved me hundreds of dollars over the last year."

i visit my friend at Singapore. But i also want to visit Kota Kinabalu. so I'm wondering if there is a bus going to Singapore form Kota KInabalu. I will also apprecaite it if I will be informed of the best bus to take and the fare involve in it.

Soapy_Raindrop :
"Travel by bus is cheap but it is time consuming. You can take a bus from Singapore to KL-Puduraya Bus Terminal.By bus 5 to 6 hours subject to traffic jam.To Kuala Lumpur : You may book buses from private operators. Many of the bus operators can be found at Golden Mile Shopping Centre. Most of the buses boards from Golden Mile,Beach Road or Lavender street (all within walking distance from Lavender MRT station).Transnasional (Malaysia's biggest long distance bus company) can be found at Lavender Street. Other operators include Transtar,Grassland,Konsortium, Gunung Raya, etc. An economy ticket cost about S$15.If you decide to do so,please book the bus tickets way in advance. Puduraya Information Desk 03-20700145 (only useful to get numbers of bus companies,or location of tickets counters etc.,not really useful for bus schedules). Transnasional (national bus company): 03-20703300. At Puduraya Bus Terminal,go up the staircase you'll come to the second floor.Go right and in the left corner you'll find all kind of ticket offices. With so many different counters offering same destination,it is a bit tricky to make a choice.Prices are basically the same but the state of the bus are sometimes different & schedules vary. When you'll have purchased your bus ticket you'll have to go down to the ground floor,go down the staircase to your platform. On this floor you'll have to find the right platform, where your bus will depart.Alternative way is by plane. It is faster. There are direct flights from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu.$$$ saving tips-Many fly between KK & Johor Bahru en route to Singapore as fares are considerably cheaper.Airlines operating at the airport are Malaysia Airlines & AirAsia.Check out the websites for fares. Take the express bus from Queen Street Bus Terminal to Larkin Bus Terminal in Johor Bahru. The bus fare is about S$1.60 & operates from 5.20am to 12.10am.Remember to keep your tickets after boarding the bus. After clearing your luggages, show the bus driver your old ticket & you do not need to pay for the bus fares again.Alternatively, you may board the Singapore-Johor Express from Queen Street. Each trip cost about S$2.40.The Singapore-Johor Express will be faster as it does not stop along the way.Note: For both bus No.170 and Singapore-Johor Express, remember to take your luggage with your when you alight at the immigration & customs points,as the buses will not wait for you.Take 170 all the way to the end terminal.Take a cab from Larkin Bus Terminal to Senai International Airport.Senai International Airport: located 28 km.It is about 35 Malaysian Ringgit from the Malaysian side at Johor Bahru to the airport."

"You need a boat for surface travel. Flying is a better option."
Michael C :
"You can get to Kuala Lumpur or Penang by bus. You CANNOT go to Kota Kinabalu by bus from Singapore. Kota Kinabalu is across the South China Sea on the island of Borneo. You can take a flight on Malaysia Airlines or Silkair to Kota Kinabalu. you can try the budget airlines but I am not sure if they have flights there."
tiny mjo :

Please give details on what bus to ride from Kota to Penang if there is a way to go there by land? Please add details on what to do in Kota Kinabalu and what are the best and safe places. I dont really like to stay in the diving spots. What are the things we can do in Penang as well? Thank you

lim :
"there's no way to go by land from k.k to pp.only by air or sea.air asia is the best option.there's a lot of things you can do in pp."
cherry :
"Penang and Kota Kinabalu is separated by South China Sea. So, how are you going from Kota Kinabalu to Penang by land? For more information, Penang is in West Peninsular Malaysia while Kota Kinabalu is in East Malaysia (in Borneo). So you only have two options here. The first option is to take a plane fly directly from Kota Kinabalu to Penang. or Second option is to take a ferry or boat ride from Kota Kinabalu and land on East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. From there, take a bus or taxi ride to Penang. Bus ride would be cheaper than taxi ride."
jimmy :
"I suggest that you visit this web site: Search for Penang then Kota Kinabalu in the Asian section....Register for the forum and ask the locals .....and previous visitors..."
GINDURAS :
"both place separated by south china sea. so, no chance going there by bus. the cheapest is using the AirAsia air transport. but only from kota kinabalu to KLIA in kuala lumpur. and the rest you need to ride a bus."
gerardterranova :
"Get a flight from Kota Kinabalu to Penang, it is separated by the SOuth China Sea. Please check this site, for things to do; at KK, at Penang,"
lunaticg :
"certainly by air cannot go there by land because got South China Sea between those two land. You can check for recommended place in this website:"
Purple Lemon :
"You cannot go to Penang from Kota Kinabalu by Land.. only by air. try Airasia airlines."
cjunmeng :
"There is only a daily direct flight from Kota Kinabalu (KK) to Penang island operated by AirAsia (a Low Cost Carrier Airline), the flight is about 2hrs50min. The advantage is can save up times for other purposes. Or else, can consider MAS Airline for a transfer at Kuala Lumpur (KLIA), this will cost extra & times. Alternatively, take a flight to Kuala Lumpur and use bus/coach services to Penang, this will have a more explorations on Malaysia inland sceneries. KK is popular with its cultural, seafoods & seaside activities (diving, snorkeling..). Beside diving, can shopping & eating around KK city, but most of the cultural attractions are far from the city. Therefore, a well planning is needed. Penang is popular with the heritages and local dishes. The most important activity is EAT, EAT, EAT & EAT! Beside that, there are quite some interesting sight seeing is worth for a visit. Pls check out the links below for further details. Wish you'll have a nice trip in Malaysia."
artawijaya1973 :
"Hi Tiny, Ok lets get to the point. Question. How can we go to Penang from Kota Kinabalu? Option # 1: ~Fly with AirAsia from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur , LCCT. ~transit from the same terminal at LCCT to Penang This is the best option, efficient and cost effective. As you don't have to go to Kuala Lumpur city centre. AirAsia is budget airline that you could fly with. HIGHLY RECOMENDED. *** same method but you can fly with Malaysia Airline to KLIA and transit to Penang. *** Malaysia Airline is a full service airlines . The flight ticket will be much higher but you can check their website for a bargain. This way you don't have to go to Kuala Lumpur city to ride a bus. Option # 2 : ~ fly in to Kuala Lumpur from Kota Kinabalu. Either by MAS or Air Asia and take taxi or bus to Kuala Lumpur , Pudu Bus Terminal. ~ not so practical and not time effecient. Unless you want to have some sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur. Kota Kinabalu is a safe place and more relax . Compared to Penang which you should be careful. I will leave you with all these site for you research. Enjoy!"
tare_panda :
"you have to fly across the south china sea to get to penang from kota kinabalu, btw, penang offers a loooooot of food for you.some people call penang as the food capital of malaysia."
