"This question would be better off in the Other section. Not South Africa. South Africa is a whole country by itself. It doesn't include the country of Uganda. Its nowhere near Uganda. Try Google Maps."

"I lived, worked, and studied for 18 months in Kampala and totally fell in love with the place. Kampala is one of the safest large cities in Africa and the people there are generally very welcoming, friendly, and helpful to newcomers. There is a huge range of hotels to choose from. Depending on your price range--and your comfort range (some foreigners get too freaked out and insist on tons of luxuries)--you could stay in anything from a small guest house to the Sheraton Hotel. I stayed in the Makerere University Guest House ($50 a night, breakfast incl) on the Makerere University campus right in Kampala until I found my apartment. It was quite comfortable, in a great location, and not terribly expensive. I would recommend just booking a few nights in a place like this, and then scouting out the area once you get there to see what types of places fit your price and comfort ranges. Good luck and hope you enjoy it as much as I did!"
