i am interested in buying a new mig welder and ive been told that hobart is a good name. i have looked at a few hobarts and i cant decide what i want. the 125 ez looks like a good one but cost a lil more than the 140 amp. is there a reason for this or is this just coincidence. also are all of the new hobart migs ready to go without the hookup or use of gas. i do mostly hobby welding and building things like tables so i wouldnt need a real heavy duty one i guess but if the 140 amps is cheaper im thinkin i should go with that one. maybe im wrong? what do you think.

"This is just my opinion, but when I was looking for a mig welder I compared both Hobart and Lincoln brands. What I ended up with was the Lincoln 135 amp. The small Hobarts were not as well made in my opinion, and I felt I was only paying for the name. My Lincoln is used several times a week and hasn't given me any problems in the 3 years I have owned it. I sure don't baby it either."

"The Hobarts ( which are actually manufactured by Miller ) that you name are new to me. When I purchased my Hobart 135 the other option I had was a 145. The difference, and what you should consider is; What is the thickest material that you will be welding ? And, what power supply do you have available ? Again, when I bought my 135, 240 volt power supplies were "available" at both my home and work but, WIDELY scattered. 110 volt however, was readily available without the use of an extension cord and, I was able to weld up to 1/4" single-pass with it, which was about all I needed to do with that welder anyway. Heavier guage steel was done with the shop's MIG. Bought the Hobart in 2000 and use it just about every work day .... sometimes for just a few minutes or so, sometimes for hours at a time ( with 75 - 25 / solid wire or, no gas / flux core ). It claims to have a 20% duty cycle but, as hard as I 've used it, it's never given up. Most wire feeds are "ready to burn" out of the box, with no shielding gas, using a flux core wire. However, your weld QUALITY will be less ( more pin holes and splatter ) using flux core wire instead of solid wire and shielding gas."

i am looking into purchasing a hobart 125 ez mig welder. i think that hobart is a respectable brand. i would appreciate if anyone could give me any feedback on the 125 ez. maybe you have one in your garage or have some experience with them but i would like to hear what you have to say about them before i make the decision to buy or not. also i was looking at the 125 ez on the internet and noticed that you just plug it in turn it on and select the metal thickness there is no wire feed speed on it. is that configured in with the thickness of the metal? please reply soon. i appreciate all answers.

"If you are just doing very light work, sheet metal or hobby kind of stuff. Maybe even a little bit of auto body stuff it would probably be good. The worst thing about it is it is flux core only, no gas. Using gas always gives you a better weld but if you're not worried about what the welds end up looking like it is probably a good choice for someone looking for simple ease of operation. I would recommend the 140 handler set up with a bottle. I have built class III receiver hitches with mine without a problem. Hope it was helpful."

Zac Randall, 135 lb. wrestler from Hobart, IN Middle School gets pinned truly quickly by Mike Wilson in the conference championship. What's interesting is that Zac seems more comfortable getting (and staying) pinned than Mike does in keeping a pinned opponent down. Zac seems like he'd be happy letting Mike hold him down, pinned for 30 minutes.
