Glasgow - United Kingdom

DemographyThe population of the Glasgow City Council area peaked in the 1950s at 1,200,000 people and before that for 80 years was over 1 million. During this period, Glasgow was one of the most densely populated cities in the world. After the 1960s, clearings of poverty-stricken inner city areas like the Gorbals and relocation to 'new towns' such as East Kilbride and Cumbernauld led to population decline. In addition, successive boundary changes by the Scottish Office and UK governments reduced the official city boundaries (and hence the official population) making direct comparisons diffic

Myself and a few friends are going to Glasgow on a weekend break, can anyone tell me about the nightlife and shopping there? Im Irish.......

entertainment fan :
"Buchanan Galleries has lots of shops, and so has Sauchiehall Street. There are many bars and clubs but i've never been to them. Argyle Street is another main shopping area. Where do you live?"
caroline r :
"The main shopping areas are Argyle Street, Sauchiehall Street and Buchanan Street which are all close by each other in the city centre. I would also recommend going to the Barras market on a Saturday or Sunday of you get the chance - it's near Glasgow Cross. There are far too many clubs and pubs to mention. Just go on a pub crawl and see what takes your fancy (any excuse does, eh?) Hope you and your friends all have a great time in Glasgow!"

A London lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a Glasgow copper. He thinks that he is smarter than the cop because he is a lawyer from London and is certain that he has a better education then any Jock cop. He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the Glasgow cop’s expense!! Glasgow cop says," License and registration, please." London Lawyer says, "What for?" Glasgow cop says, "You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign." London Lawyer says, "I slowed down, and no one was coming." Glasgow cop says, "You still didn't come to a complete stop. License and registration, please." London Lawyer says, "What's the difference?" Glasgow cop says, "The difference is, you have to come to a complete stop, that's the law. License and registration, please!" London Lawyer says, "If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket." Glasgow cop says, "Sounds fair. Exit your vehicle, sir." The London Lawyer exits his vehicle. The Glasgow cop takes out his baton and starts beating the f*ck out of the lawyer and says, "Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?"
