Traveling to Frankfurt in June and was looking for some pointers to travel to Dresden in an inexpensive way.

Santy Claus :
"thumb a ride."
matty_mo1 :
"Walk. Eat Funyuns."
doug0102 :
"On a train or hitchhiking."
Jessica C :
"bus? is there land mass or water? bus and very if theres water..i would think"
Potto :
"Your feet."
Pobept K :
"Train on a second class ticket"
Alwin E :
"There's the "weekend ticket" by Deutsche Bahn (German railways), if you travel on a Saturday or Sunday. That's quite inexpensive, it goes (at current prices) for 35 euros, and allows up to five people to travel. But you're only allowed to use slow trains; you can check out a schedule at. I'm sorry I cannot post the schedule here, as they have session IDs that expire after one hour, so a direct link would be worthless. --- edit: "Thumbing a ride", as mentioned by some posters, might not be so bad an idea. Try . --- 2nd edit: @Carolina, Lufthansa will in no way be the cheapest way, but the fastest, I agree. German BA might be an option. But by flying, you miss so much of the German landscape, and using the rail or driving on the Autobahn is an experience a traveller shouldn't miss. But that's just my opinion, as a German."
Carolina :
"Lufthansa has direct flights from Frankfurt to Dresden. I'm not sure if it is the cheapest way, but I'm pretty sure it is the fastest way."
Roberto :

How is the Dresden Dolls-Virginia Companion Music Book? More specifically, how is the sheet music?

Richy-chan :
"I'm not much of a musician, but my freind got it and i looked at it. it had all of Amanda's personal notes in the margins, which where fun to read. Some of the photographs were "R" rated, but it was all their style. It was good."
Michele :
"Its pretty awesome!"
John M :

I am planning a June trip to Germany. I'd like to fly into Hamburg and bicycle in two days to Dresden. How far is the bicycle trail from the airport? Cycling laws and regulations? Night riding allowed? Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated. (I have ridden 175 miles [282 km] in one day recently)

shollstein :
"The distance between those cities is 377 km on a straight line, so I think a bike trip along the Elbe river would be something like 500km. So if you're really making 282km a day you could make it. No special regulations for bikes. You have to ride the bikepath if there is one, else you can ride on the street. At night you must have a light, which would make sense anyway if you're going overland. Here's a website with some informations about bike trips along the Elbe river:. It's partly in English. Get a good map and check the route before, so that you won't lose much time on the road with navigation. So with some preparation and if you're fit enough, you might make it in two days. But why on earth would you want to do that???? There are a lot of beautiful places along the road: old cities Hitzacker and Boizenburg. Dessau one of the birthplace of Bauhaus art and architechture. Wittenberg, where Luther started the reformation, with a bunch of historic sites. That's just to name a few places. If you plan to go all the way from Hamburg to Dresden by bike, then why not take your time to enjoy the beauties of this ride. It would be a pity to race through that in just two days."
Clamdigger :
"+ I would give myself at least 3 days, if you want to push it. I think you need to take the hills into consideration. For a leisurely cycle add another day and have a couple of beers. You best be in good shape with good equipment or don't even bother. See map-quest below. Good Luck"
