Can any of you lovely people down on the south coast - Dorset area (Jurassic Coast) recommend a good, affordable bed & breakfast place. Need to take my little 'un down to see the Jurassic Coastline for a day or two. Any help greatfully accepted. Thanks guys (and girls). Hello Stella S - shame really - was bored this morning - should have sent me an invite :) Gemma T - c'mon - you can do better than that - surely :) PENFOLD - 10 points - good site - got what we needed - cheers dude!

Stella S :
"Hello, it's me again. I made love to myself this morning and it was very satisfactory. Regarding the Dorset B&B: We stayed in a nice one in Bridport last summer which was very good. Sorry, I can't remember the exact address, but there are quite a few in Bridport to choose from. It's a good base to explore the coastline."
Penfold :
"Try using"
Gemma T :
"Hello network friend. I would just like to say sorry I have no idea. But, let me introduce you to Mant. Half man half your aunt."

are all the beaches round weymouth area shingle beaches looking at the brochures they seem to be, hubby wants to go camping in dorset, i'd prefer bournemouth as the beaches are sandy. what do you think?? we have kids 11-14 boy/girl

jescikka :
"It depends on the kids,. Mine like the shingles they love collecting the stones ect but mine are a bit weird. I would prefer a sandy beach, deckchair and paper myself lol"
andyhydes01 :
"The beaches near Corfe are sandy, just don't go to Studland or you'll see more than you bargained for!!!"
paof2 :
"Studland is a really long beach, the naturist section is only a small part of it thats well signposted in advance. Its sandy, with dunes behind, and there's plenty of camping sites in the area."
CAROLE R :
"Swanage beach is beautiful and there are loads of campsites. when I was with my X we went there with the children every year , and now my children take there children. If you go the last week in July first week in august they have carnival week and there is something going on all the time."
greenorlagh :
"Get down top Swanage - that's sandy. Lovely small town."
SKCave :
"I live on Portland and can assure you that Weymouth beach has the best sand for miles around. There's plenty to do in Weymouth (obviously more in the Season) and Portland itself is well worth a visit. If you'd like more info, please email me., but to mention a few places: Brewer's Quay for shopping with a difference. Portland Castle for a bit of history and of course the 2012 Olympics sailing events will be in Portland Harbour. Hope this helps - oh, and there are plenty of campsites round here."
Deadula :
"A good base to be would be around West Bay, it has two beaches, one IS for dogs and the other one is not. The beaches are spilt by the harbour, pebbles and rock pools to the right, and shingle to the left. Swanage is nice, Weymouth is all right for a bucket and spade holiday with very small kids. Studland is for those who let it all hang out!! Have fun and a great holiday"
Robert Abuse :
"Go to Charmouth and find some fossils. There are sandy bits of beach there and great walking. A few minutes in the car will get you to Lyme Regis and Bridport and Exeter is not that far away if you need a city for anything."

What is now regarded as Highcliffe has developed over the last several hundred years from Slop Pond, Chewton and Chewton Common, all small hamlets. Slop Pond was named from the large pond on its common that housed some thatched cottages. The cottages were reputedly occupied by farm workers and fishermen, who engaged in smuggling and poaching.
