Hi, My wife & me will be visiting Delhi this Saturday (Oct-20) afternoon and departing from Delhi to Bangalore next Sunday (Oct 28) morning. Require directions on the below. 1. Which ISBT has buses to Nainital from Delhi? Should I make a reservation or can I just go there and take one? How many hours is the overnight bus journey.. 2. UTR Sampark Kranti to Kathgodam departing at 4.30. Is this a good option to reach Nainital. How about a taxi from Kathgodam to Nainital, can I prebook a taxi and how much will it cost. Any other travel options available from KGM-Nainital and which is comfortabe? 3. We plan to visit the usual monuments/places in Delhi and Agra as well. What is the recommended way to do and how many days are required.. I know of Panikar travels' tours.. Is it comfortable? Can I hire a taxi for self-driving for the entire 9 days from Delhi.. I guess this makes sense for driving around Nainital as well?

damayanti :
"Hi, To answer your questions, let's go one by one. Firstly, buses ply from Anand Vihar ISBT which would take you till Kathgodam. From here you can take up taxi or board another bus. You usually get tickets on the spot or may be couple of hours before incase there's rush. It doesn't take more than 7-8hours to reach Nainital. Incase you want comfort, then surely go by Samparkranti or Ranikhet Express till Kathgodam, from where you can take a taxi till Nainital. You can hire a car and self drive all 9 days but then it would be tiring, and driving wouldn't be that easy on hills during this time. To drive around in Nainital, you can hire cabs available in plenty there. For the Delhi-Agra trip also, you've to hire a car & take a tour of Delhi on one day & a tour to Agra next day. Have a grt trip!"
JJ SHROFF :
"First of all, congrats on spelling out your querries so crisply. very few people do that. 1. Other than ISBT, many private buses ply overnight to Nainital. I foresee no need to reserve . 2. Better option is to take a bus directly to Nainital. However, Kathgodam to Nainital taxi is no problem. 3. For site seeing, better option is to take a taxi from your hotel. It is safer. suggested itinerary- - delhi- 1 day (avoid Monday as most of monuments are closed) delhi-agra-fatehpur sikri-mathura-delhi-2 days( you can reverse the travel also, avoid Friday in Agra ) delhi-nainital-bhimtal-kosani-almora-ranikhet-nainiatal 2 days. nainital 2-3 days. nainital-jim corbett tiger reserve-delh2 days. happy journey."
