Costa Brava - Spain

The Costa Brava is a coastal region of northeastern Catalonia, Spain, in the comarques of Alt Empordà, Baix Empordà and La Selva, in the province of Girona. Costa is the Catalan and Spanish word for 'coast', and Brava means 'rugged' or 'wild'. The Costa Brava stretches from Blanes, 60km northeast of Barcelona, to the French border. In the 1950s the Costa Brava was identified by Spain’s Franco government as being suitable for substantial development as a holiday destination, mainly for package holiday tourists from Northern Europe and especially the United Kingdom. How much will I spend when I do tourist vacation in Costa brava Spain?

larocque_neo :
"I can't say the right figure right now, maybe later. Anyway, figure is nothing if you see the beauty of Costa Brava. I have a personal photo here to that place, I can share this to you anytime soon. I witnessed the beauty of the nature of Costa Brava. It is paradise not only for the wild-spirited and wild at heart, but also for those who are simply looking for something a little out of the ordinary. That's for now, I suggest you to explore more about that place. I recommend this site: Good day!"

Hi, does anyone know if there are dolphins in the sea in Costa Brava, lloret de mar in particular? Is it possible to see them from a beach? I know its pathetic, but its like my biggest dream to see them in the wild, thanks:) Yes, it is my biggest dream, to swim with them would be even better(in the wild, not in a pool), but its not that easy... so my question is still unanswered. Is it possible?? Are there any dolphins there, or do all the boats scare them away? Uli, sexykinder, thanks... Its too bad:(( I was really hoping to see them.. maybe i'll go somewhere to balearic islands on a ferry, but don't know...:(

Stuart A B :
"When you say it's "like" your biggest dream, do you mean that you have another dream which is similar, but not the same?"
Uli :
"Never heared of Dolphins at the Costa Brava. Around the Canary Islands yes, there I have seen them."
sexykinder :
"Sorry but you cant see them in Lloret, ther you can see just drunk tourists. Dolphins are far from coast, sometimes you can see them from the ferry going from Barcelona to Baleares."

Hi all me and my missus are travelling to the Costa Brava (Callela) the 1st two weeks in October! Has anyone been this time of year? and whats the weather like? also are the bars still open? thank you

pixiebell :
"I would say that it will still be warm. The bars will still be open for service, i would assume. The weather is spain is scorching hot at this moment in time, and will continue like this for some time."
Pompal :
"Went last year in the middle of September, and stayed at the wonderful Sant Jordi Hotel. Happy memories. At the beginning of October, you should find temperatures between 75 and 80 degrees fahrenheit, but not to be compared with the Costas of southern Spain, where it is altogether hotter. The sea should still be warm but beware, as it shelves very steeply once you enter the water. The beach is really very good & they take a lot of care of it. You will find it is cleaned every day and about every 80 - 100 yards there are bins on the beach itself, for normal waste, bottles and other recyclables. The beach bars are also great and all have toilets. If you like looking at shops, there is a very long pedestrianised street full of them. I would be inclined to use Calella as a base and have a look round other places. The train, which runs parallel to the beach, is so cheap and it would be a shame if you missed the opportunity of visiting Barcelona, as it's only 6 euros return! In the other direction you can travel to Blanes on the train and then get a bus to Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar, which is well worth a visit. You should still find everything open but don't expect loads of bars & entertainment. They are there but not on the same scale as other spanish resorts. You'll find enough to enjoy yourselves. Have a great time."

I don’t know why I’m enjoying this so much. Yamaha’s planned route for its new 2008 Yamaha MT-03 includes one of Europe’s best roads, a ribbon of tarmac that hugs the spectacular Costa Brava of Northeastern Spain. As tourist in this South European country, I can’t find a thing; it is because I’ve gotten lost. On another bike I’d be going mad....
