shoodoo :

Does anyone know of any places for days out ( with a 10 year old Grandaughter and a 12 year old Grandson ) in Co fact next wek.

camartin1979 :
"There's loads of places to go. Have a look at this site."
MG :
"Westport House is a good day out for kids with a small zoo, paddle boats on the lake, plenty of green area for picnics and lots more to do. The park is closed until May 1st so don't try to go before that. You could also make your way from there to Achill Island(accessible by road via land bridge) for a great beach and spectacular scenery around the island and very high cliffs."
tony m :
"Hello, What a lovely place to visit, I know it quite well, and the children will too, may I suggest Knock shrine, not just for the Shrine itself, but for the Heritage centre there, the children are at just the right ages to appreciate the whole of the museum, and of course relate to what life in Ireland was like a couple of hundred years ago, I took my youngsters there, and couldn't get them away from the place, and as we were leaving I had to promise to bring us again Daddy, so I have done so since then, and still, they loved it, You can, if you wish take in a mass first if you wish to, but whatever your reasons for going to Knock, make sure you all enjoy the day, and I hope it is a very happy day for you all........ Tony M"
Pete :
"First! Don't go to Knock unless you are the religious type as there really isn't much there besides a massive church! Mayo is quite a large County so what you should go and see really depends on which part you're staying in. Places I would recommend are Westport Lovely town, plenty of places to eat drink and relax. The mountain Croagh Patrick is very near - just walk as far as the first station (or slightly above) the view of Clew Bay is still fantastic. Achill Island (accessible by a bridge): There is a drive (quite long) called the Atlantic drive which has quite dramatic scenery of sea cliffs overlooking Clew Bay (the far side to the mountain) - the road is empty but is very worn and thin though. Again there are places to eat and drink, it always rains here though! If you like fishing the Moy in Ballina is great for salmon and Lough Conn is supposedly great for rainbow trout (no idea about seasons though I don't fish). There are plenty of other places I'm sure. Cong is in Mayo but very near Galway and is also in Connemara and is a really nice tourist town, well worth a visit. As its in Connemara you can go and see what that holds. If you're feeling adventurous can go and see Inishboffin which is accessible by ferry from Cleggan ( Very much worth a look. This is only a small snippet of what there is to see and do here. Also look up: Céide Fields, Pontoon, Clare Island, .."
echo :
"If you go to Ballina go a little further to Enniscrone the beach is wonderful if you have a lovely day. Ceide fields if you are interested in archeology. Tell the kids this is what Time Team look at."
sian m :

this is the name and address stella jennings. knock.krakibbels. castle bar co mayo

snetterton2 :
"Irish addresses don't have postcodes. Dublin has districts, 1, 2 etc, but that's all."
English Angel :
"There are no post codes in the republic. You have the full address"
cheeky :
"If they've got one , find it here."
LovelyLou :
"Ireland doesnt have postcodes, and there is no place in Mayo called Knock Krakibbels."
rachm0912 :
"dont worry about post codes you dont need them, in ireland dont use post codes added to addresses, i guess its small enough and doesnt need them. so you can go straight ahead and post the letter /parcel to that address you have, the addresss is the full address as it is, doesnt need anything added to it."
Laurence M :
"Ireland does not use postal codes except in Cork and in Dublin. Sometime in 2008 An Post, the post office systyem, intends to introduce codes. For now, Just address your mail to: Stella Jennings Knockaskibbole Castlebar Co. Mayo Telephone: (094)9025059"
murnip :
"There is no knockkrakibbels, and it's Castlebar, not Castle Bar. And there aren't any postcodes in Ireland, except in Dublin."
Orla C :
"There isn't any post code. Only Dublin has postcodes."
Big Feet :
"I'm sure Stella would be thrilled to know you geniuses posted her name, address, and telephone number on a public web site!!!"
Henry B :
"Hey Big Feet: Stella's name and address are already on a public website: There are only post codes in Dublin and Cork."
pjb1979 :
"KK7 2LE"
Barbie :
"thats the address, we dont use postcodes in Ireland"
