SUSAN M :

"A married couple that I know have just returned from there. According to them; if you can speak Spanish, are catholic, and have no children (because they'll be tormented to death by the Spanish children), then you'll still not fit in, but it's a start."

The population in Catalonia Spain

bryboy_5 :
"Catalonia (Catalan: Catalunya; Spanish: Cataluña; Aranese: Catalonha) is one of the seventeen autonomous communities that constitute Spain. Its territory corresponds to most of the historic territory of the former Principality of Catalonia. The autonomous community of Catalonia covers an area of 31,950 km² with an official population of 6.8 million (2004). Immigrants represent 6.8% of the total population. Catalonia was officially recognised as a nationality in the Catalan Statute of Autonomy enacted in 1979 pursuant to the Spanish Constitution of 1978. Many Catalans feel no alliance to Spain due to their distinct culture and language. There exists an active, non-violent independence movement. Official languages are Catalan, Spanish (also known as Castilian), and (in Val d'Aran) Aranese."

The web (www.ine.es) is in Spanish but you can check the answer following these steps: 1. Search 'Cataluña' in the list click the selection and then 'Consultar Seleccion'"

Switzerland is alright. Why Catalonia? Will not be taking seriously if your taking on these teams.

Austin B :
"This was a big issue when the US had such bad results in the world cup eventhough they had good rankings. And that is the fact that they play teams that they feel they will beat as to pad their record and give them a good ranking. You hardly ever see them playing a good team. I asked this same thing the other day. I would love to see them play england or germany, but I know that will never happen any time soon."
playmaker4747 :
"Catalonia isn't a country, and so isn't a member of FIFA. It won't affect their FIFA ranking one way or another, so "padding their record" is not a reason to play them. The game is only an exhibition, not a full international friendly. I really don't know why they chose to play them."
Izabel - Guerreira Portuguesa :
"catalonia?!? lol.. wtf. do you mean spain? haha. catalonia is a province in spain... it would be a powerful one because of barca ha. uhmmm i hope they both kick the usa's ass to show you that you cannot underestimate ANYONE."

Catalonia will give you a different feeling than the rest of Spain and Barcelona in Catalonia is unique in itself. It is one of the best places to be in Spain. La Rambla, Sagrada Familia and the Barcelona Cathedral are a must visit. If you have enough time, try to visit as many of Gaudi’s monuments as possible.

This area is not typically Spanish. There is adequate rainfall, a good deal of industry, a different language (Catalan), and a middle class. Here people are often better informed about national and world affairs than those further south, and throughout Catalonia's rather troubled history the desire for secession from the rest of Spain has been appa
